Chamomile, known for its calming and soothing properties contains chemicals called flavonoids, a type of nutrient present in many plants and the reason behind its medicinal effects.
 
The word chamomile comes from the Greek chamaimēlon meaning "earth-apple", which is derived from chamai meaning "on the ground" and mēlon meaning "apple". It is so-called because of the apple-like scent of the plant.  Thus the taste of Chamomile has been compared to a crisp apple.
 
The tea itself doesn’t need to be sweetened due to its light taste and floral notes, but some people enjoy adding honey.
