So you may be asking yourself, “What does a Health or Wellness Coach actually do? 

 

A health coach is a supportive mentor and wellness authority who helps others feel their best through individualized food and lifestyle changes that meet their unique needs and health goals. 

 

Health coaching isn’t about one diet or one way of living. Instead, we focus on bio-individuality – the idea that we’re all different and have unique dietary, lifestyle, emotional, and physical needs.  This means that we don’t believe in a one-size fits-all approach to health and wellness. Instead, we work with clients to help them discover how to fuel their bodies and become the healthiest, happiest version of themselves through a holistic approach.

 

We emphasize holistic health beyond the plate as we approach wellness through primary food.  The idea that there are areas of your life that impact your long-term health just as much as the food you eat – your relationships, career, spirituality, and physical activity.

 

Making healthy lifestyle changes requires support and cannot be accomplished in a 15-minute doctor visit, so we work in conjunction with your own medical practitioner to fill a gap to guide and support your personal wellness plan by making recommendations and provide additional resources that support and compliment your goals to ensure that you stay on track.

 

So my first step as your Coach would be to get a health history from you, but also to Explore Your Intensions and by that, I mean you need to ask yourself what it is that you are trying to accomplish.  Are you trying to lose weight, are you unhappy in your job or your relationship? Sometimes the answer is as simple as yes, I just want to lose those 10 stubborn pounds but sometimes it’s about not being able to get enough sleep or always feeling run down or unenergized throughout the day and those areas are a bit more complicated to get to the root of the cause and will take some time to determine exactly what is going on.

 

The goal is to help restore balance to your body and allowing natural healing. I am a firm believer “THAT THE POWER FOR YOUR OWN HEALTH AND HAPPINESS COMES FROM WITHIN” and that in making simple lifestyle & dietary changes you have a lot more control over your health than you think. 

Being healthy gives you a better outlook on life, so you're more prepared to tackle your tasks. Stress on the other hand, can keep you from enjoying life and can have a negative impact on your health.

    Stress

    Stress triggers a survival response that can help us in the short-term but become damaging if it persists for prolonged periods.  Learning how to control stress can help you retain your mental & physical health. I will support you to learn healthy ways to copy with the stressors in your life.

    Inflammation

    Inflammation is part of our normal immune response and while brief periods of inflammation, known as acute inflammation, work to heal the body, inflammation that extends for long periods of time is attributed to Chronic Inflammation. Chronic inflammation can be attributed to a diet high in unprocessed foods and/or to food sensitivities or allergies. I will support and introduce you to ways to find what's healthiest for your unique body!

    "All disease begins in the gut" The gut plays a much bigger role than just digestions:

    • Helps develop the immune system from birth

    • Largest endocrine organ 0 secreting over 30 hormones

    • It has its own brain (operates independently of our other brain, the one in our heads)

    • Impacts almost every other system & organ in our body - hormone regulation, immunity, blood sugar, health of our brain

    • Gut is gatekeeper & decides what is allowed in from the outside

    • 80% of your immune system resides in the gut. The gut is our power source

    Immune System

    Diet and Lifestyle play a huge role in the immune system's ability to keep the body functioning at its best. The immune system is the body's system that keeps us safe from diseases and infections; simply it helps us stay healthy. When germs such as bacteria or viruses invade your body, they attack and multiply. This is called an infection. The infection causes the disease that makes you sick. Your immune system protects you from the disease by fighting off the germs. Even in a perfect world, our gut has a hard time keeping things balanced. I will support and teach you ways to strengthen and keep your immune system strong.
